2017 FSC Member-Partner Results

EagleRidgeThe 2017 FSC Member Partner was played June 24-25 at Eagle Ridge Golf Club.  A total of 28 teams competed in the 2-day best ball match play competition. There were five flights of 6 teams each and one flight of 4 teams. Teams played five 9 hole matches in a round robin format against the other teams in their flight. Each match was worth 10 points, with each hole worth one point and the winner of the match claiming an additional bonus point. The team with the most cumulative points after 5 matches won their flight and competed in a shootout to determine the overall champion.

Participants were treated to 3 different gift options from Titleist/FootJoy. They chose from either a pair of shoes, or a combination of a shirt and ProV1 golf balls, hats and gloves. Tavern on the Green provided breakfast and lunch both days as well as complimentary drinks on the course.

In the 1st Flight, Tim Tant and Bill Cortright won all five of their matches and finished with 32.5 total points. Michael Sullivan and his guest Johnny Baker claimed second with 29.5 points.

The 2nd flight came down to the wire as four teams still had a shot to win entering the final set of matches. Balbina Kang and Jaylon Lynn snuck out the victory with a 29.5 point total, topping the second place team of Wes Davis and Eddie Shearon by a single point.

The 3rd flight was also a nailbiter as Amy Watson and Denny Wendel won their final match to edge out Kevin Norman and Aaron Kline by a 28.5-28 margin.

Chris Buffaloe and Sam Kocurek won the 4th flight with 38 points, the highest point total of any team in the tournament. They along with Tant and Cortright were the only undefeated teams for both days. Second place in the 4th flight went to the duo of Charlie Westmoreland and Chris Robertson with 28.5 points.

In the 5th flight, Stephen Gore and Larry Adams claimed victory with 27.5 points, with Scott Distler and Robert Hostetter finishing second with 26.

At the conclusion of the last match on Sunday, the 18th hole was converted to a par 3 for an alternate shot shootout amongst the 5 flight winners. After the first go around, four teams tied with par on the hole so they continued on to play the hole again.  Whichever partner did not hit the tee shot in the first round had to hit it in the second.  Bill Cortright hit a beautiful shot to about six feet and his partner Tim Tant drained the putt to earn the title of 2017 Member Partner Champions.  In addition to their winnings from claiming their flight, they each got a bottle of wine and gift certificates to Tavern on the Green.

We would like to thank all participants who made this such a great event and we look forward to seeing you all at the Riverwood Par 3 tournament on July 15th!
