Update from the Golf Course

Dear FSC Sports Club Members,

I hope everyone is braving the winter weather well. If you are anything like me, spring cannot get here fast enough! It has been an unusually cold start to the year with 2 significant snowfalls already. However, the long-range forecast looks much warmer and much more conducive to playing golf.

I want to take this opportunity to fill everyone in on some big things that are happening at all our golf courses. First, the remodeling of the snack bar at Riverwood is nearing completion and looks awesome! In case you haven’t seen it yet, we have a new bar with new televisions, furniture, flooring and lighting. When it is complete we will be serving 100% beef burgers complimentary with your round of golf. The feedback from those who have seen it so far has been great and we can’t wait to get it open. In other exciting news, a NEW GOLF CART FLEET has officially been ordered! We expect delivery sometime in March with brand new EZ-GO carts going to Eagle Ridge and Riverwood. Hedingham will be getting a full fleet of well-conditioned carts from our current fleet with brand new batteries. We decided to handle the carts in this manner so that our entire fleet would not be the same age and allow us to better maintain them in the future. Also, our bunker project is progressing nicely at Olde Liberty as well, with several bunkers having been reshaped so far. We hope to have this year’s portion of the project complete in April.

With a March delivery in mind for carts, we have decided to postpone Divot Day until after the delivery date. Please check the newsletter next week for an exact date. For those of you not familiar with this event, it is a chance for us to get the courses in good shape as we head into growing season while having fun with fellow members. We will have a free lunch for all participants followed by a couple hours on the course filling divots and fixing ball marks. We will conclude with a fun 9-hole tournament which will carry with it FSC Cup points. Once a date has been set, sign up sheets will be posted in each golf shop. The other member tournament on the horizon is our annual Luck of the Irish at Hedingham on March 17th. Please call the golf shop at 919-250-3030 to sign up. This tournament is always a member favorite and a great way to shake off some of the rust as we gear up for spring.

Enjoy the upcoming warmer weather and I hope to see you all at the courses in the upcoming days. If I can be of assistance in any way, feel free to contact me at Daniel.Davis@fredsmithcompany.com. Happy golfing!

Sincerely,

Daniel Davis
